Connections; Cell Phones to Televisions

First read and seen on NPR's All Tech Considered.

At this years Consumer Electronics Show there were more Internet connected devices then ever seen before and the most interesting part is some of them are talking to each other. Sony's CEO Howard Stringer said that by March of this year Sony will have 50 Million Internet-connected televisions through PS3, Google TV, and its WI-FI  Blu-ray players.

The Most interesting device that caught most people's eyes was the Sony Erickson Xperia arc, a smart phone that lets you watch movies on its 4.2-inch touch screen. From my understanding with this phone you can watch a movie while on bus ridding home and you problem did not get to finish the movie so all you do is when you get home connect it to you television and it will play from where you stop. Interesting.

Even cars will be getting a make-over.Toyota showed its Entune System, the company hopes to put these in the dashboard of its cars this year. One of the cool things about the Entune System is that it is touch screen and it had voice recognition software. the system is said to have Pandora Radio and the Open Table application.

Until Next Time,

Elle :)

  1. Lauren! I loved your post on technology. I can't believe that we will soon have a smart car that recgonizes our voices, or a phone we can watch full-length movies on!It almost seems like something out of a sy-fi movie. Technologies that can talk to eachother! I just sometimes wonder if we are making technology too much apart of our lives. I mean I dont know what i would do without my cell phone and im sure others in my generation will say the same. What will our children say they can't live without? Great Piece!

  3. This just comes to show how advanced the world is becoming. It makes me wonder what new technology will emerge in the next 5 to 10 years? The whole world will be digital!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. The world is rapidly changing and right before our eyes. The exciting part of all of this is we are able to be A PART of it! We look back and wonder how people in the late 1800s were astounded by the telegraph. Well, we are living in similar wonderment as to how far the digital world will take us and what impact it will have on how we, as humans, communicate. Exciting times, for sure!
